Peer Institutions
Peer institutions provide important context for understanding the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s performance and progress.
Approved by the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees, comparative and aspirational peer institutions serve as benchmarks for assessing outcomes, informing planning efforts, and evaluating institutional performance across key metrics such as enrollment, student success, research, and resources.
The current peer institution groups were approved by the Board of Trustees’ Education, Research, and Service Committee in October 2022.
Southeastern Conference (SEC) institutions are included as an additional benchmark group, providing context among universities that share this conference affiliation.
